KEFINE
KEFINE is a relatively new brand that was born out of passion for the hobby. A group of audio enthusiasts, with previous experience in the earphones manufacturing field, gathered together to share their vision about sound. The KEFINE brand creates earphones that offer excellent price-to-performance ratio while maintaining high quality sound and craftsmanship. Three earphones are available so far, the Klanar, the Delci and their latest installment the Klean.
KEFINE Klean
The KEFINE Klean is an affordable, entry-level earphone that uses a 10mm dynamic driver with a diaphragm made from diamond-like carbon (DLC). This advanced material is known for its remarkable clarity, detail and high frequencies extension.
The Klean also features a dual-cavity driver structure and interchangeable nozzles for tailored sound preferences. The silver nozzle offers a warm, smooth sound, while the black nozzle delivers a higher resolution with brighter, more transparent tones. The threaded design makes swapping nozzles quick and convenient.

Build quality and wearing experience
The ear-shells are made with a metal alloy casting technique and then get polished to achieve their smooth black finish. The faceplates are attached to the main body with a screw, a method that prevents damage from adhesive failure or external force, thus promoting the longevity of the product. Just like the Delci, the Klean is extremely well made, far surpassing all expectations for the asking price.
The appearance of the KEFINE Klean might be plain and minimalistic but it is also sophisticated and attractive. The ear-shells are not that lightweight for their size but are very compact with a contoured design that follows the natural shape of the human ear. The Klean is actually very comfortable and discreet looking, it disappears into your ears offering a stress free and stable fit with good noise attenuation.

The stock cable
KEFINE is a brand that equips their earphones with high quality cables and the Klean is not an exemption. It comes with a 2-pin detachable cable with high purity silver-plated copper wires in a two core braided design. The cable has a 3.5mm aluminium plug, it is soft and lightweight with minimal microphonic noise and it doesn’t get tangled. A high quality cable for the price that offers good handling and visually matches with the Klean.
Accessories
The package includes three pairs of silicone ear-tips, the cable, two pairs of tuning nozzles and a nice carrying case with a side zipper.

Drivability
All entry-level earphones should be easy to drive because most buyers are going to use them straight out from the 3.5mm jack of their phones or an entry level USB DAC dongle. The impedance of the KEFINE Klean is 32Ω with 107dB of sensitivity so it is really easy to drive and you can enjoy it with portable USB DACs like the FiiO JA11 or the Kiwi Ears Allegro Mini.
Listening impressions
The Klean came with the silver nozzles installed so let’s take them as our starting point.
Most people shopping for $40-50 worth of earphones are probably going to use them for everyday casual listening and not for audiophile critical applications.
The experienced KEFINE team, well aware of that, chose a smooth and easy listening sound profile for the Klean in order to satisfy the majority.
However, and in contrast to common practice, they kept the tuning balanced enough without frequency response extremities. The Klean has a mild bass emphasis with good sub-bass extension, strong mids and a smooth yet clean treble.
The overall sound signature is not too V-shaped nor too U-shaped but more balanced, acknowledging the importance of the mid-range that was kept present and intact without excessive emphasis in the bass or the treble.
A true all-rounder, the KEFINE Klean sounds good with all kinds of music and will please most users except those looking for a genre specific earphone or a technical beast.
The treble of the Klean is smooth and polite, some would even call it dull, but it is surprisingly clean and well defined. It has the right amounts of light and sparkle to avoid a dark sound profile while staying free from sharpness and brightness. The timbre is good but not devoid of some metallic artificiality especially when it comes to the higher pitched instruments of the symphony orchestra.

More listening impressions
Detail retrieval and overall resolution are good for the category but don’t expect too much depth or any special analytical skills. The Klean is rather low profile and not that technically advanced but it compensates with its musical nature.
The mid-range has a balanced tuning without much recession or upper mid-range brilliance thus it sounds neutral and easy to the ear without causing any listening fatigue. It is well defined and articulated without suffering from mid-bass bloat masking effects. Colorful and euphonic with sufficient harmonic variety, the Klean has the means to connect the listener with his favorite tunes.
The tastefully emphasized bass works wonders with most kinds of music and is not that out of tune to exclude more critical listening as long as you are willing to accept its limits. The technical performance is competitive, the bass is rather fast, quite tight and controlled with mildly weighty and not that lean textures. The Klean is not extremely punchy and impactful but it doesn’t lack in dynamic contrast either.
The soundstage is rather narrow without any significant depth, however it has sufficient space and decent imaging to let the listener discern what is really happening without ending up listening to an undefined mess.
The black nozzles
The black tips add more air in the upper mid-range and gently emphasize the treble to give the Klean a more traditional V-shaped and lively sound profile. The Klean sounds more clean and sparkling without becoming strident or sharp, while the bass gains a bit in tonal accuracy without losing its extravagant character.

Vs the KEFINE Delci
The KEFINE Delci is $10 more expensive than the Klean and someone will wonder if it is worth spending the extra cash to buy the Delci instead of the Klean.
The Delci has a tuning that resembles that of the Klean with with the silver nozzles attached. However there is more that the tuning itself that justifies spending $10 more. The Delci is technically superior, it is more resolving and refined, it sounds bigger than its younger brother with a wider soundstage and a punchier, more dynamic bass.
In the end
The Klean is another proof, together with the Delci, that KEFINE might be a relatively new brand but they know very well how to make crowd pleaser earphones at very affordable prices. The KEFINE Klean is better made and sounds far superior than someone would expect for the asking price, making it a great entry-level option and a real bargain in a very competitive market.
