The package

BGVP Q3

The BGVP Q3 features Bluetooth 5.3 technology and comes with MMCX connectors for wired connectivity. Equipped with the Qualcomm QCC3072 Bluetooth chip, it supports various protocols including aptX Adaptive, LE Audio, AAC, SBC, A2DP, AVRCP, HFP, HSP, SPP, and PBAP. The Bluetooth connection is reliable, offering strong and stable performance with minimal interference noise, and a working range of up to approximately 10m in clear conditions.

The BGVP Q3 features a hybrid architecture with a dynamic driver for mid-low frequencies and a balanced armature for high frequencies. Notably, it offers wired connectivity through additional MMCX connectors, allowing users to enhance sound quality with an external audio adapter. When the cable is plugged in, the earbuds will automatically power off, although it’s worth noting that a cable is not included in the package. With a wired impedance of 38Ω and sensitivity of 102dB/mW, the Q3 is easily drivable and compatible with entry-level DAC dongles or MMCX cables equipped with an embedded audio adapter like the ddHiFi M120B.

User interface

The BGVP Q3 is designed with touch sensitive panels on both earpieces, allowing users to carry out a variety of functions. Although gesture controls are not included, users can utilize long press and click combinations to control volume, skip tracks, manage calls, activate game and transparency modes, and more. Audible beep sounds provide feedback to help users understand the actions being performed. The touch panel is responsive with a moderate level of sensitivity, ensuring that actions are registered without any major issues or delays. When putting on the earphones, it is important to be careful not to touch the control panel.

Transparency and gaming modes

The earphones lack active noise canceling technology, however, they offer a snug fit which results in good passive noise isolation. The BGVP Q3 features a transparency mode that utilizes four high-definition microphones to pick up ambient sounds. To activate this mode, simply press and hold the touch panel for 3 seconds. The transparency mode works effectively without compromising the sound quality significantly. Additionally, there is support for a gaming mode with low latency of 68ms, allowing for seamless gaming and movie-watching experiences without any audio or video synchronization delays.

The MMCX charging function

The Q3 also offers the convenience of charging the earbuds using the MMCX connectors, eliminating the need for the charging case. With the included USB type-C to dual MMCX cable, you can easily charge the Q3 from your phone or any other USB type-C port with a 5V output.

Appearance and fit

The earpieces are manufactured using 3D printed resin in a semi-custom design that mimics the natural shape of the ear canal. These Q3 earpieces are compact and lightweight (6.3g each) with a snug and highly comfortable fit. They offer excellent isolation and are suitable for continuous use without the need for breaks. The Q3 is aesthetically pleasing, discreet, and well-crafted. Choose from three color options: black, blue, and purple.

The charging case and battery duration

The charging case is designed to be lightweight and compact, fitting easily into a spacious pocket. While the inner part of the case is constructed from plastic, the external shell is made of a lightweight aluminum alloy for added durability and a sleek appearance. The overall build quality and finish are satisfactory, although it is worth mentioning that the lid hinge is made of plastic and may appear fragile, susceptible to breaking under excessive force. The earpieces are magnetically attached, and the front face of the case is equipped with four indicator LEDs to show the battery level.

The earbuds offer approximately 6 hours of battery life with mixed usage, while the case can provide an additional 28 hours of working time. A full charge of the earbuds through the case takes around 40 minutes.

Accessories

The bundle comes with two pairs of silicone ear-tips (vocal and bass) in three different sizes, a USB type-C cable for charging the case, the MMCX charging cable, and a USB adapter. The only item absent is a standard cable with a 3.5mm plug, which is quite inexpensive, so BGVP could have easily added one without significant profit loss.

Listening impressions

The BGVP Q3 offers very good wireless audio performance, featuring a well-balanced tuning that is uncommon in budget-friendly TWS earphones. These earphones deliver a neutral sound with good sub-bass extension, a modestly emphasized bass, well-defined mid-range, and smooth, yet extended treble.

The bass has a slight boost with a hint of mid-bass focus, expertly adding warmth and enjoyable elements without overshadowing the mid-range or sacrificing tonal accuracy. The BGVP Q3 is suitable for everyday media consumption and casual listening, while also impressing more discerning listeners. The textures are on the lean and dry side, but clarity and definition make up for it. The bass is dynamic and impactful, with good speed and control. Overall, the bass performance exceeds expectations for a TWS set in this price range, especially when paired with a quality USB dongle in wired mode.

The midrange is characterized by its crystal clear and well-defined sound, offering good presence and a mostly balanced tuning with minimal upper-mid boost. While the textures may be thin, there is plenty of of harmony present. The timbre is natural, providing realistic voices and instruments, although some noticeable sibilance can be detected, particularly in the “s” and “t” consonants.

As for the treble, it has excellent extension, clarity, and detail retrieval within its category. It maintains energy and sparkle while delivering a smooth and forgiving sound without any harshness. The Q3 is gentle and pleasant to the ear, lacking brightness or sharpness, yet falling slightly short due to a metallic sheen in its timbre. Higher register instruments may exhibit a hint of artificiality, with a quicker fade than desired resulting in a thin and lightweight sound.

The BGVP Q3 offers an impressively spacious sound with a wide soundstage and ample inner air. It excels in instrument separation, making it a versatile choice for music, gaming, and movie enjoyment.

Wired connection

Employing the BGVP Q3 alongside a cable and a portable USB DAC enhances the overall listening experience. The bass becomes more precise and controlled with increased physical impact, the mid-range benefits from improved separation and definition, and the treble exhibits a slightly more natural and less artificial sound compared to wireless mode. This well-considered feature enhances audio quality and brings added value to the BGVP Q3.

In the end

The BGVP Q3 offers excellent audio performance within its price range, making it a great choice for those looking for affordable TWS earphones. Equipped with the latest Bluetooth technology, this lightweight and comfortable set is well-crafted with a long-lasting battery and numerous additional features. Consider the BGVP Q3 if you desire a tonally balanced pair of TWS earphones that can also be used at home with a cable for an enhanced listening experience.
