Lavricables
Lavricables is a well known manufacturer that makes handcrafted cables for various audio applications. They started out of their passion for the hobby by making cables for personal use and eventually expanded into a small business.
After experimenting with various materials they decided that pure silver is the best conductor available nowadays. Silver is known for its neutrality, resolution and soundstage openness. Braided solid core cable geometry is used for the construction of the cables as it allows to eliminate radio frequencies and electromagnetic interference. An increased number of cores also minimizes the skin effect on higher frequencies.
Lavricables makes cables for headphones and earphones with various plug options as well as interconnects, speaker and power cables plus a USB cable. Most of their products are available in four lines: Reference, Ultimate, Master and Grand. Please visit the Lavricables website to learn more about each product line and their differences.
Lavricables is a brand that has been extensively covered by this website (check previous reviews here) but this is the first time to review their speaker cables.
Lavricables Grand speaker cables V2
The Lavricables Grand speaker cables are now available in their second generation where total silver gauge is doubled by using 5N purity AWG26 wire. This is a carefully braided cable with 28 strands of 5N solid silver wire of AWG26 (0.42mm diameter) per channel in oversized PTFE Teflon insulation.
The woven teflon Litz construction is ideal to deliver RFI and EMI rejection and provides low capacitance while 5N silver transmits electrical signals faster and with less distortion than ordinary OFC wires. The high grade teflon insulation gives a predominant air dielectric and is regarded as the best insulator for bare cables while ‘skin effect’ is noticeably reduced via the use of separated 28 cores of silver.

Build quality and handling
You can order the cables with silver-plated spades or Z-type gold/silver-plated bananas in various lengths. Lavricables informs us that silver conductors need at least 150 hours of burn-in to reach their optimal performance hence they offer 100 or 150 hours burn-in services at an extra small fee.
The plugs are soldered to the cable with Mundorf Supreme Silver 9.5% audio solder and are protected via 2 layers of heat-shrink. The cable is covered with a silk fabric sheathing that is secured at the ends of the cable with black heat-shrinks that bear the Lavricables logo.
The overall construction is solid and inspires confidence for the longevity of the cable. The cable is lightweight, soft and bends easily without getting deformed or tangled, even at longer lengths. The Lavricables Grand is a well made handcrafted cable that has nothing to envy from the competition.
A disclaimer about cables
All audio reviews employ a great deal of subjectivity and cables especially as they tend to be a very controversial topic. Some people deny that cables can make audible or scientifically proven differences but others vouch in their effectiveness, both audible and measurable.
I am not a cable denier but also not a blindfolded believer. I subjectively test all cables in my audio systems without some kind of blind methodology or scientific validation and sometimes I do hear audible differences that can vary from minimal to more pronounced depending on the cable.
Please note that this is a purely subjective review without any scientific validation or blind testing and all findings apply in my specific audio set-up. Listening impressions should be treated with caution as your mileage may vary depending on your audio chain and general audio beliefs.

Listening set-up
The review cable came with 150 hours of burn-in time and is terminated with Z-type gold-plated banana plugs.
The test system consists of the Audio Physic Spark stand mount speakers driven by the Lab12 intengee4 MK2 (toroid version) integrated amplifier. The system is housed in an acoustically treated room and for this review I used the Tung Sol KT170 power tubes.
The digital front end consists of the Volumio Rivo+ transport that feeds the Lab12 dac1 reference and power conditioning is handled by the Lab12 gordian multifunctional power distributor/conditioner.
My reference cables are from Oehlbach’s State of the Art series while I frequently use Neotech and Signal Projects cables.
Listening impressions
From all types of audio cables I find speaker cables to be the most effective and do notable audible differences (good or bad), at least for my hearing perception. Speaker cables are the first ones that I would prioritize to upgrade if I’d like to improve the performance of my two-channel system.
Cables can usually be categorized into two big groups; high quality cables that are transparent and achromatic, and cables that have weird electric characteristics (like capacitance, impedance and resistance) in order to act as passive equalisers and manipulate the frequency response of an audio system. These kinds of cables usually end in degrading rather than improving the sound quality of the system and are not my favorite ones.
The Lavricables Grand speaker cables not only belong to the first category but they are class leaders when it comes to their transparency and fidelity. They are absolutely achromatic and their primary function is to pass the analog signals from the amplifier to the speakers with exceptional precision and accuracy, without degrading the sound quality or adding any character of their own. I would gladly choose them just for accomplishing this task with exceptional success.

More listening impressions
This cable is not recommended if you seek something to use like a passive equaliser in order to amplify or reduce certain parts of the frequency response of your system. Additionally, and in opposition to common belief about silver cables, the Lavricables Grand will not make your system sound brighter or add any metallic artificiality to the higher frequencies. What it does is to smoothen out the textures and make the timbre even more natural and realistic, vanishing any traces of grain or edginess that your stock cables might have. If there is a side effect is that the textures can become a little leaner, depending on your stock cables, but not drier or less elastic.
Going back and forth with the reference cables I noticed that the Lavricables Grand added some extra sense of silence and tranquility to the already silent system. This additional blackness combined with enhanced clarity helped a lot with detail retrieval. Small and previously buried nuances emerged from the depths of the recording but the system didn’t become more analytical or clinical. The differences in comparison with the stock cables were rather subtle but still plenty enough to let discover hidden details and enjoy deeper insight.
Just like the Lavricables Grand headphone cables that I have previously tested, the Lavricables Grand speaker cables were beneficial to the openness and the spaciousness of the soundstage. The layering became intricate and the stage gained in immersion and positioning accuracy. The stock cables are already very capable in this regard, and maybe a touch more holographic, but I liked the sharper imaging and the pinpoint localization that the silver cables brought to the table.

And some more…
The reference cables of the test system are already very good so it doesn’t come as a surprise that the Lavricables Grand didn’t yield any night and day improvements. What they did though was to move the sonics to a different side path, opening new frontiers that proved equally interesting and enjoyable. Listening with them for more than a couple of weeks in a row and I didn’t feel like returning back to my other cables and this is something that speaks for how good they are.
Depending on the quality of your system and your speaker cables, the Lavricables Grand might bring even more significant sonic enhancements and make a worthwhile upgrade to the sound performance of the system.
At this point I should also note that the Lavricables Grand speaker cables synergized exceptionally well with the Lavricables Grand XLR interconnects (you can read the review here) and their combination was like the icing on the cake.
In the end
The Lavricables Grand speaker cables combine excellent build quality with exceptional sonic performance. Systems with lower quality cables, but still capable enough to highlight cable differences, will significantly benefit and get worthwhile audio improvements. As for users that have systems that are already adorned with superior cables, they will be happy to discover uncharted territory and new paths that lead to the same peak.
