Hidizs MS1 Galaxy Review
The Hidizs MS1 Galaxy is an introductory model in the renowned Hidizs Mermaid series, joining the ranks of popular earphones such as the MS3 and MS5.
The MS1 has been a staple in the Hidizs lineup for nearly half a decade, debuting as the MS1 Mermaid in 2019 before receiving an upgrade to the Rainbow edition. With the latest Galaxy iteration, Hidizs aims to provide high-quality materials and technology to a broader range of consumers, offering exceptional value for the price.

Technology
The MS1 Galaxy is equipped with a specialized 10.2mm high-performance dual magnetic circuit dynamic driver featuring a PU+PEEK composite high-polymer diaphragm. This material is widely acknowledged as the most reliable and advanced diaphragm solution in the driver manufacturing industry. It has excellent texture uniformity and a lightweight design. Additionally, the dual magnetic circuit configuration enhances magnetic flux, increases electro-acoustic conversion efficiency, and minimizes nonlinear distortion to a great extent.
Design and wearing comfort
The ear-cups are crafted using high-density Makrolon, a resin compound from Germany, known for its skin-friendly and non-irritating properties. These ear-cups are compact and lightweight, weighing only 10g. Their ergonomic shape ensures a comfortable and secure fit, while also providing effective passive noise attenuation. Wearing the Hidizs MS1 is an absolute delight, as it offers excellent comfort. Additionally, the MS1 Galaxy comes in four vibrant colors, allowing you to select your preferred one.

Cable and accessories
The MS1 Galaxy comes equipped with a 2-pin detachable cable , made from silver-plated oxygen-free copper wire. Despite the affordable price of the earphones, the cable has an unexpectedly high level of quality. Additionally, you have the choice to order it with or without a microphone. Apart from the cable, the package also includes a set of silicone ear-tips available in three different sizes.
Power requirements and associated gear
The MS1 Galaxy is a low impedance headphone with a sensitivity of 108dB at 32Ω, making it easy to drive with low power requirements. It can be efficiently used with your phone’s 3.5mm jack or for even better performance, pair it with an entry-level USB DAC dongle such as the Hidizs SD2.
Listening impressions
The Hidizs MS1 Galaxy offers a V-shaped tuning that delivers a substantial amount of bass without overpowering the overall sound. This earphone provides a fun, warm, and slightly dark sound signature, perfect for casual listening to a wide range of music genres.
The mid-bass is prominently emphasized so it is important to note that neutrality and tonal accuracy may not be its strongest points. However, you can still enjoy various music genres unless you’re in a highly critical mood. The bass is rich, weighty, impactful, and dynamic, exhibiting good control and speed for an entry-level earphone. Although it may not be the fastest or most controlled bass, it avoids being sluggish or bloated.
When the bass line is relatively simple, the layering and definition are satisfying. However, it may struggle to keep up and accurately follow more complex bass lines.
The transition to the midrange is quite smooth, although the midrange itself is not very prominent. However, it remains clear and well-defined without being overshadowed by the mid-bass. The overall tonal balance is slightly uneven, but vocals and instruments are still reproduced with strong intensity and a substantial presence, although they may lack a bit in harmonic richness. The upper midrange is more noticeable than the lower midrange, but it is not overly emphasized to the point of sounding harsh or piercing.

More listening impressions
The treble extension is satisfying enough, as it possesses the precise amount of energy and brilliance required to offset the warmth of the low-end and prevent the MS1 from sounding excessively dark. The earphone adequately retrieves and presents details, while providing a smooth and polite sound signature that may not be exceptionally resolving or refined. However, it is important to note that such criticism is unjust, given that the MS1 Galaxy is an entry-level, budget-friendly earphone designed for casual enjoyment throughout the day.
The soundstage size and imaging of the Hidizs MS1 Galaxy may not be extraordinary, but they surpass expectations. This earphone doesn’t suffer from congestion and it offers sufficient spaciousness and positioning to create an open and vibrant sound.
In the end
The Hidizs MS1 Galaxy is an affordable earphone designed with a popular tuning, making it ideal for casual use. It is a perfect option for young individuals new to the hobby, as well as seasoned users looking for a convenient and comfortable audio solution for daily use. The Hidizs MS1 Galaxy comes highly recommended for these specific target audiences due to its excellent quality and budget-friendly price point.
