Today’s review is about the Saccater Luna, a set of noise-reducing earplugs that are designed to protect your hearing from excessive noise in various everyday situations.

The Saccater Luna were kindly provided free of charge in exchange for an honest review. I didn’t receive monetary or any other kind of compensation and I don’t use affiliate links.

The Saccater Luna earplugs cost $99 and are available from the Saccater online shop.

The Importance of Hearing Protection in Everyday Life

Even the most hardcore audiophiles need some moments of complete silence in order to take a break, let their ears rest and reset before the next listening session. Silence is, after all, a crucial component of music, allowing sounds to exist in a state of “unimpededness,” according to the renowned composer John Cage.

Whether you work in a noisy environment, attend live concerts, or simply want to enjoy a peaceful night’s sleep at home, noise-reducing earplugs are essential for protecting your hearing and improving everyday life.

This is why there are so many types of earplugs made from various materials like wax or foam, that you can use to protect your hearing. However, none of them lasts forever, so you have to replace them frequently, not only because they tear and wear quickly, but also for hygienic reasons.

Another solution is to have custom-made earplugs that are very effective but also expensive and bulky, or just use Saccater’s earplugs that are made to last, offer better noise isolation and fit more comfortably than most other universal options.

About Saccater

Saccater is a brand founded with the goal to provide innovative noise reduction solutions. The brand name was inspired by the botanical term “saccate”, commonly used to describe the “pouch-like” structure of flowers or plants. The brand decided to use this name because their earplugs are designed with an innovative saccate-like structure.

The Saccater Noise-reducing Earplugs

Saccater’s noise-reducing earplugs are designed with an ergonomically shaped stem that accepts replaceable ear tips just like earphones. They are tiny and lightweight earplugs that also have a safety mechanism that prevents deep insertion and safeguards the ear against misuse.

The company makes two different types of stems. One is made from solid silicone and effectively blocks all noise outside. The other is a more rigid plastic stem, featuring an inner acoustic channel with a 600-mesh membrane that acts as a Helmholtz resonator to dissipate energy and selectively reduce noise levels.

The Focus and Focus Plus models belong to the first option and are ideal for maximum noise reduction, like when you need to sleep or study. The Momentum earplugs on the other hand belong to the second group and are best used when you need to stay in contact with the surroundings, like when working or attending a concert.

All models are sold together with a carrying case and various types/sizes of ear tips so the user can achieve a personalized fit and noise reduction level. Saccater also makes a couple of useful accessories, like the Link, a tug-resistant breakaway cord that you can use to hang the earplugs around your neck.

Ichos Reviews has already tested and reviewed Saccater’s Focus and Moment models.

Unboxing

Saccater Luna Earplugs

The Luna earplugs are the latest addition to the Saccater lineup, a complete set that contains both a pair of silicone and ABS stems together with various types of ear tips and the Link accessory. They are essentially the Focus Max and Momentum models combined in one handy package with two carrying cases.

A notable difference from the previous models is that both the silicone and rigid earplugs are now made from a special material that can glow in the dark for about 6 hours. The Saccater Luna earplugs are available in clear, teal, marine and pink colors, all glowing in the dark.

The solid silicone stems offer up to 30dB of noise attenuation while the ABS with the Helmholtz resonator are certified at 13dB NRR, so they reduce harmful high‑frequency peaks while preserving low‑frequency detail and musical clarity.

Saccater takes their job very seriously and offers detailed measured data and certifications that you can find here.

The Link accessory

Accessories and Ear tips

Except for the Link accessory and the two carrying cases with the earplugs, the package also includes 14 pairs of interchangeable ear tips in 3 types and multiple sizes, ensuring a tailored fit for different ears and noise conditions.

There are four pairs of regular ear tips made from glowing silicone and four pairs in plain white silicone. Additionally, there are three pairs of double-flange ear tips and three pairs of hybrids with a memory foam exterior and a silicone interior core.

The user can mix and match stems with ear tips to achieve noise reduction levels ranging from 13 to 30 dB. The maximum rating is achievable when you combine the solid silicone stems together with the hybrid ear tips at a size that fits the ears tightly and firm.

User Experience

If you have read the Focus and Moment review, then you will already know that the Saccater earplugs are extremely comfortable and very effective in reducing background noise exactly as advertised. Choosing the right size ear tips is essential in order to achieve the best noise reduction and comfort results.

The Saccater earplugs are exceptionally easy to wear and there is no risk of getting blocked inside the ear canal thanks to the safety mechanism. They are featherweight, they don’t cause any kind of discomfort even after hours of use, they are ideal for sleeping and they are discreet enough to wear them outside without looking weird.

I have been using the Saccater silicone earplugs continuously for more than a year now to sleep at night in my noisy apartment, and i also carry the rigid model with me when visiting bars with live playing bands. They have completely replaced the medical foam earplugs that I had been using in the past, and I even prefer them to my custom-made ones because they are more comfortable and lightweight, albeit a little bit less effective in noise reduction.

The Saccater earplugs are thousand times more durable than regular foam or wax plugs that barely last for a couple of weeks. The only thing you have to do is to clean them when they become dirty with wax, and they will last forever. A simple wash with mildly warm water and soap is more than enough. Additionally, you can order spare ear tips directly from Saccater in case you lose them.

In the end

The Saccater earplugs are currently the best noise-reducing earplugs that surpass all other universal options in noise reduction effectiveness, wearing comfort and durability. They are available in two basic models, one for complete and another for selective noise reduction, sold with various ear tip and accessory bundles.

For people that need a complete all-in-one solution, Saccater now offers the Luna bundle at a very competitive price. This is the set to have if you need adjustable noise reduction for different scenarios during the day or at night. The Saccater Luna earplugs stand out as the most comprehensive solution to protect your hearing, without the need to resort to active noise-cancelling methods.
